How to Build Your New TryBike

What’s in the Box?

Before assembling, make sure your TryBike kit includes:

  • The frame
  • Two large rear wheels
  • One front wheel
  • Fork (with axle)
  • Axle bolts and washers
  • Hex/Allen keys (included)
  • Instruction manual (but we’ve got you covered if you've lost it!)

Build the TryBike as a Tricycle

Perfect for toddlers (around 15 months to 2.5 years), the trike setup offers extra stability while building confidence.

Follow these steps:

1. Attach the front fork to the frame

  • Make sure the fork is angled forward.
  • Use the provided bolts to secure it.

2. Add the front wheel

  • Slide it into the fork’s dropouts.
  • Secure using the axle and bolts.

3. Install the rear axle

  • Use the long rear axle (specific to trike mode).
  • Slide it through the rear of the frame.

4. Attach both rear wheels

  • One wheel on each end of the axle.
  • Use washers and bolts to tighten them snugly.
  • Make sure both wheels spin freely.

5. Adjust the seat height

  • Use the Allen key to loosen the seat clamp.
  • Adjust it so your child’s feet can touch the ground comfortably while sitting.

And boom - you’ve got a ready-to-roll trike!

Convert to a Balance Bike

Once your child starts zooming around with more coordination (usually around 2.5 to 3 years old), it's time to level up to two wheels!

Conversion process:

1. Remove both rear wheels

  • Use the same Allen key to undo the axle bolts.
  • Take off the long axle too.

2. Switch to the balance bike axle

  • Grab the shorter axle included in your TryBike kit.
  • Insert it into the rear triangle of the frame.

3. Attach one rear wheel

  • Secure it on either side (left or right, it doesn’t matter).
  • Tighten the bolt and washer firmly.

4. Check the seat height again

  • Your child’s feet should still touch the ground flat-footed.
  • Lower the seat if needed - this builds their balance naturally.

Now your TryBike is a balance bike, ready to help your little one cruise, glide, and get ready for a pedal bike later on!

Pro Tips for a Smooth Ride

  • Safety first: Always check that all bolts are tight and wheels are secure before riding.
  • Helmet on: Encourage helmet use from the beginning to build the habit. Want a matching one? Find your colour matched Coco Helmet here.
  • Practice makes progress: Start on flat, smooth surfaces and let them explore at their own pace.
  • Celebrate milestones: Whether it's the first turn or a new trick, cheer them on!

Why TryBike is a Parent Favorite

  • It’s durable with real air-filled tires for better comfort and grip.
  • It’s adaptable, growing with your child from 15 months to around 6 years.
  • It promotes natural learning of balance and coordination before introducing pedals.

Watching your child go from cautious first steps to confident cruising is a joy and the TryBike makes that journey smoother, safer, and full of smiles. With just a few tools and a little setup time, you're giving them a head start on a lifetime of biking fun.
